In his interview, Dashrath Patel, one of the founding members of National Institute of Design,India, says,"...Consumerism is destroying our aesthetic....In our country environment was a way of life. And we are not using this in our march to becoming modern. We are taking things from the West which the West is rejecting. We should be partners in development rather than just being a market for the West. We need to re-examine our traditions and make it relevant to us..."
